Sharing my Space
Earlier this year, I hosted a friend from my high school who came to Wesleyan for a recruiting visit. I got to bring him around campus, introduce him to the coaches, and spend time with him around the team so he could get a real sense of the program and how people here interact.
It felt full circle. Just a year earlier, I was in his position—trying to picture myself on a new campus, asking questions, and figuring out if it was the right fit. Showing him around made me realize how much I’ve learned since then, not only about football and academics, but also about what kind of environment helps people succeed.
I wanted to give him an honest look at life here, the balance between sports and school, and what it actually feels like to be part of the team day to day. Watching him connect with people and seeing him start to feel comfortable reminded me of what stood out to me when I first visited.
Hosting him was a small thing, but it made me appreciate how quickly roles can shift. I came here as a recruit looking for direction, and now I’m the one helping someone else find theirs.
